Wabi Sabi (Beauty in Imperfection) was the theme of the New Year’s luncheon held in the intimate setting of the Waioli Kitchen and Bake Shop in Manoa. Following a brief general membership meeting, articipants enjoyed a sumptuous brunch including baked goods for which Waioli is renowned.

In Japanese, Wabi refers to simplicity and rustic elegance. Sabi signifies beauty that comes with age and wear. 

Hana Tsutsumi, (flower wrapping), centerpieces adorned each table.  Program chairs distributed packets containing washi, ribbon, mizuhiki, stickers, colored card stock, tiny silk flowers, and unusual colored wrapping paper.  A quiet creative concentration overwhelmed the group as they folded, placed, and glued their materials to their cards and notepads.
