IKEBANA  INTERNATIONAL  HONOLULU  CHAPTER  56

2010 PROGRAM

February  Workshop

Sunday, February 21, 2010, 1 to 3 p.m.                                                                         Moiliili Community Center

Co-Chaired by Elaine Kunimura and Ethel Aotani                                                         Instructor: Esther Sanborn

Find a hidden treasure in your closet, cupboard, or on the top shelf, something that is not a vase but could be used as a vase for your arrangement, such as coffee urn/pot, decanter, fondue pot, box, stein, kettle, dustpan, ice bucket, etc.  We all admired Esther’s clever plastic pitcher arrangement at the Outrigger Canoe Club; she will now lead us in making use of our unused treasure as a vase for our ikebana.

Instructor: Evelyn Nakamura

Furoshiki is an alternative Japanese wrapping technique that is very "green".  Learn to wrap gifts of different sizes and shapes using only a fabric square.  Using and reusing a Furoshiki will eliminate wrapping paper, ribbons, tape, tissue paper, and cardboard boxes.  It's an eco-friendly practice borrowed from the Japanese.
